A letter from your farmers....

Hi Full Platers,

Strange times are upon us. As we try to find moments of calm and identify all that we appreciate in this world we have found ourselves so grateful to be a part of the Full Plate (and Ithaca!) communities where folks are willing and eager to uplift each other and offer support in times of need.

We wanted to take a moment to offer (as many others have) our acknowledgement of the challenges our community is facing and to reiterate our commitment to you as our friends, neighbors and members. Our farms are still working in preparation for the coming growing season. Now more than ever, we hold close to our intention of providing abundant, nourishing food to you all through and beyond this pandemic.
That is to say, the summer share is being planned for usual and we hope we can offer you a bit of peace in these uncertain times by offering food security through our usual 23 week summer season beginning in June.

Be well,
The Full Plate

Molly, Nathaniel, Emily, Lucy, Chaw, our families and our farm crews

What changes are you making in response to Coronavirus?

We are observing Grocery/Farmers Market recommendations from the Department of Health.

Detailed information safety has been and will be communicated directly with our membership via email.

Each of our farms is practicing increased sanitation precaution behind the scenes

Will free choice pickups be available?
Yes, you will still have choice and flexibility but the pickups will be different than in the past in order to facilitate space for social distance and minimize contact surfaces

What are the risks? What are your farms doing?
Food is not shown to be a vector for COVID-19 (there is no evidence food is a source or transmission route). And each of our sites has a specific COVID19 safety plan.

We always follow all food safety protocols. However, we have significantly heightened our sanitation practices to ensure we are following every precaution. This includes increased hand washing stations, access to masks and sanitizer for our employees (on and off farm), frequent cleaning and sanitizing of all surfaces, etc.

Our small crew is practicing social distancing, working with at least 6 feet between us, almost entirely outside. We are all limiting our contact with others, off-work.

How will I know?
We will contact each member with information specific to their pickup as we finalize details. You will have options to shift your pickup preference if new procedures don't suit your preference
Will you deliver beyond City of Ithaca/Village of Trumansburg limits?
No, our home delivery limits are the same as always

Will you have produce? Like definitely for sure?

Regarding the Governor's Mandate:

We do not anticipate new restrictions to be a problem in getting you food!

Farms and agricultural workers are considered essential workers, as are food delivery drivers so we should not have an issue in getting food to people. And for those who elect to pick-up it should not be any different than picking up prepared food or groceries curbside.
The farms are working now to seed and prep fields that will allow us to feed the community for the year to come.

And we will always share our food in a way that feels safe for all members and farms. When necessary, I am sure we can all adapt together!
